Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a compression ignition type engine which switches into compression ignition combustion or forced firing combustion depending on an engine load, for enabling a continuous change of an EGR rate in a region where forced firing combustion is performed.SOLUTION: The control device for the compression ignition type engine includes a controller (a PCM 10) configured to operate an engine body (an engine 1) while allowing the compression ignition combustion of air-fuel mixture in a cylinder 18 when the operating condition of the engine body is in an operation region of a load equal to or lower than a switch load (T) and allowing the forced firing combustion of the air-fuel mixture in the cylinder when the operating condition is in an operation region of a load higher than the switch load. The controller continuously changes the EGR rate depending on the high or low load so that the EGR rate is higher as the load is lower when the operating condition is in the operation region of the load higher than the switch load, and introduces ozone into the cylinder in specified regions (T-T) bordering on the switch load.
