Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain stable compression self-ignition combustion at a restart of combustion after a fuel cut.SOLUTION: A fuel injection device 15 which can inject fuel is arranged in a combustion chamber 11 formed in a cylinder 10. When restarting combustion in a compression self-ignition combustion region in which at least an engine load is set within a region smaller than a prescribed load T1 after the execution of a fuel cut at which fuel injection from the fuel injection device 15 is stopped, an air-fuel mixture is combusted by self-ignition, and the fuel injection device 15 is made to perform compression-stroke divided injection which injects fuel while dividing the injection into a plurality of times during a compression stroke.
