Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compatible both the stability of combustion and the suppression of NOx which is generated by the combustion, in an internal combustion engine which performs the combustion of a homogeneous air-fuel mixture.SOLUTION: A control device of an internal combustion engine having an ignition plug and an in-cylinder injection valve for directly injecting fuel into a cylinder performs first fuel injection for forming a homogeneous air-fuel mixture in the cylinder, and second fuel injection for forming a prescribed air-fuel mixture in the vicinity of an ignition region of the ignition plug. Then, when a combustion variation exceeds a variation threshold, and a prescribed interval between the start timing of the second fuel injection and ignition timing is longer than prescribed minimum timing, the control device correctively shortens a prescribed interval at a succeeding combustion cycle by at least either of the retardation of the start timing of the second fuel injection and the retardation of the ignition timing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
