Abstract:
To implement an electronic control device which allows secure and sure reprogramming to the latest software without user's special operations.SOLUTION: An electronic control device 2 comprises: a main microcomputer 9 which executes a control program; a monitoring unit 11 which monitors operation to determine whether the main microcomputer 9 can be correctly operating or not; a gateway unit 6 which downloads externally transmitted software; and a memory 11 which communicates with the main microcomputer 9 and stores therein the software downloaded by the gateway unit 6. The monitoring unit 11 monitors communication between the main microcomputer 9 and the memory 10 and determines whether software in the main microcomputer 9 can be reprogrammed to the externally downloaded software or not. After it is determined that reprogramming to the downloaded software is possible, reprogramming of the software in the main microcomputer 9 is permitted.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
