Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a control signal of a switching device that gradually decreases a primary side current of an ignition coil particularly in the event of abnormal electrification to be adjusted with a simpler configuration without having to change hardware in an ignition control device of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: Abnormal electrification of a switching device is monitored. In generating a control signal (soft shutoff waveform) of the switching device for gradually decreasing a primary side current of an ignition coil in the event of abnormal electrification so that an ignition plug causes no erroneous discharge due to a secondary side voltage of the ignition coil generated by cutting off the primary side current of the ignition coil, only the parameters having a large impact on a time for executing control to gradually decrease the secondary side voltage of the ignition coil and the primary side current of the ignition coil of the parameters that determine the shape of the soft shutoff waveform are made variable and selectable. The variable and selectable parameters can be set through an ignition control signal from an ECU.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
