PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and speedily obtain the information of a reference image similar to an input image.SOLUTION: A feature quantity extraction part 30 extracts a feature quantity from reference images and a retrieval key image. A quantizer creation part 32 creates a quantizer, and a quantization part 36 performs quantization by allocating a VW to the feature quantity. A first importance calculation part 38 calculates first importance from an appearance frequency of the VW. A second importance calculation part 40 calculates second importance from the appearance frequency of the VW between reference images to which reference labels which are the same as that of the reference image are imparted, and from the appearance frequency of the VW between the similar reference images to which the reference labels which are different from those of the reference images are imparted. A normalization coefficient calculation part 52 calculates a normalization coefficient, and a retrieval ranking part 54 retrieves the reference image which is similar to the retrieval key image on the basis of the VW which is allocated to the retrieval key image, the VW which is allocated to each reference image, the second importance and the normalization coefficient.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
