Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system and an information processing method which enable suitable identification of the nearest transportation facility.SOLUTION: An information processing system comprises: first identification means to identify a plurality of transportation facilities within a prescribed distance from a target coordinate region; second identification means to identify, for each of the plurality of transportation facilities, an intermediate coordinate region between the transportation facility and the target coordinate region; means to calculate a degree of congestion in the intermediate coordinate region on the basis of location information acquired from a plurality of portable terminals; and third identification means to identify, as the transportation facility nearest to the target coordinate region, the transportation facility having a high degree of congestion in the intermediate coordinate region.
