Abstract:
The present invention provides authentication technology that maintains security while improving convenience. When a portable storage medium that is connected to an information processing terminal is instructed to perform PIN authentication and said PIN authentication succeeds using the input PIN information, the PIN information is stored in a storage unit in the information processing terminal. In addition, when OS login authentication using OS authentication information that is input to the information processing terminal succeeds, the OS login information is stored in a storage unit in the portable storage medium. When it is determined at this time that an authentication key that is input into a portable information terminal is the same as an authentication key that is stored in the information processing terminal, the portable information terminal is assumed to have a function for linking with the information processing terminal, and the OS is instructed to lock an operation state or perform log off when it is determined that wireless communication has been cut off between the portable information terminal and the information processing terminal. In addition, when it is determined that a wireless connection has been opened or re-opened, the PIN information is acquired from the storage unit, the portable storage medium is instructed to perform PIN authentication, and when the PIN authentication succeeds, OS login information that is acquired from the portable storage medium is used to instruct the OS to cancel the lock or log off state.
