Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine capable of using a plurality of types of fuel and coping with abnormal combustion while maintaining output.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine (1) comprises: a cylinder (5) which forms a combustion chamber (3) therein; a piston (7) which reciprocates inside the cylinder (5); an intake port (9) which supplies air to the combustion chamber (3); a first fuel supply passage (11) which supplies first fuel (F1) to either the combustion chamber (3) or the intake port (9); and a second fuel supply passage (13) which is installed separately from the first fuel supply passage (11) and supplies second fuel (F2) having a reactive property lower than that of the first fuel (F1) to either the combustion chamber (3) or the intake port (9). The internal combustion engine also has: an abnormal combustion detection device (33) which detects abnormal combustion in the combustion chamber (3); and a fuel supply control device (31) which controls in a manner that reduces a supply amount of the first fuel (F1) and increases a supply amount of the second fuel (F2) when the abnormal combustion detection device (33) detects the abnormal combustion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
