Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for distinguishing between defects and dirt of a metal fitting.SOLUTION: Image data representing a target image covering at least a portion of a surface of a main metal fitting obtained by photographing the main metal fitting is analyzed to identify candidate areas, or candidates of an area showing a linear defect on the surface of the main metal fitting within the target image. For each candidate area, a plurality of edge pixels, each showing at least a part of a short-axis-side portion of edges of a candidate area, are identified. Determination is made as to whether each candidate area satisfies distinguishing conditions, including that the candidate area should have a linearity higher than a reference, using the plurality of edge pixels.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
