Abstract:
Provided is a composite stretchable member formed by sandwiching elastic members between two sheet materials and joining the two sheet materials, and wherein the likelihood of the elastic members being severed is low. The composite stretchable member (1) is formed from aligning in the lengthwise direction and superposing two elongated sheet materials (2, 2a), and sandwiching a plurality of elastic members (3) extending along the lengthwise direction of the two sheet materials (2, 2a) and approximately parallel to each other between the two sheet materials (2, 2a). The two sheet materials (2, 2a) are joined to each other at joining sections (4) comprising a hot melt material applied contiguously along a direction perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the sheet materials (2, 2a). The joining sections (4) pass across the plurality of elastic members (3). Between joining sections (4) adjacent on the two sheet materials (2, 2a) are formed, by means of the contractile action of the elastic members (3), a plurality of folds (40) extending across the plurality of elastic members (3) and perpendicular to the lengthwise direction of the sheet materials (2, 2a).
