Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a sufficient viewing angle characteristic of an optical film including a phase difference layer functioning as an A plate, and simplify the configuration and step and improve quality of the optical film.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical film 10 including a phase difference layer 7 on a transparent base material 11, wherein the phase difference layer 7 is a single-layer phase difference layer formed of a polymerizable rod-like liquid crystal material; the NZ coefficient represented by NZ=Rth/Re+0.5 using the front phase difference Re and thickness phase difference Rth is less than 1; in a measurement result of a phase difference value Re obtained by setting a phase advance axis of the phase difference layer to a reference axis and changing the incident angle to the phase difference layer around the reference axis, the incident angle at which the phase difference value Re becomes the maximum value is 10 degrees or less; in a measurement result of a phase difference value Re obtained by setting a slow axis of the phase difference layer to a reference axis and changing the incident angle to the phase difference layer around the reference axis, the incident angle at which the phase difference value Re becomes the maximum value is 10 degrees or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
