Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter for a railway car having a step-up chopper circuit that prevents an overvoltage of an output voltage at a time of reattaching a line after a detachment and continues a stable operation of the power converter for a railway car.SOLUTION: The power converter for a railway car can be connected to a DC overhead wire via a current collector, and includes an insulation type DC/DC converter having a step-up chopper for boosting DC power supplied via the current collector. A detachment detection unit detects that the current collector is in a state detached from the DC overhead wire. A control unit suppresses an increase in a conduction ratio of the step-up chopper so as to suppress a rise in an output voltage of the power converter for the railway car from the detection of the detachment to the reattachment line.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
