Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to provide vehicles in which steep energy transfer in an electric power storage device is avoided to extend the life of the electric power storage device, and in which the labor required for the maintenance and the parts replacement of the vehicles is saved. To this end, a train control device 9 is adapted to detect temperature of the electric power storage device 6, for determining an allowable value of discharge current of the electric power storage device 6 on the basis of the temperature of the electric power storage device 6, and in the case where the allowable value of discharge current of the electric power storage device 6 exceeds a first threshold value, to start electric power generating devices 4, 4-2, and 4-n which are not started, among a plurality of electric power generating devices 4, 4-2, and 4-n, for making the started electric power generating devices 4, 4-2, and 4-n operated at a high efficiency point, and for controlling the discharge current of the electric power storage device 6, so as to make the sum of the electric power amount determined by the discharge current and voltage of the electric power storage device 6 and the output power amount of the started electric power generating devices become the electric power amount which is required for the traveling of the railway vehicles, and which is obtained on the basis of a driving command from a vehicle cab 10.
