Abstract:
To reduce time necessary for detection of disconnection in a motor for rotatably driving a rotary tub while accurately detecting the disconnection.SOLUTION: A washing machine of the embodiment includes a motor that is a three-phase brushless DC motor for rotatably driving a rotary tub and rotatably driving a pulsator via a reduction gear, a PWM control-type inverter circuit for driving the motor, a current detection unit for respectively detecting three-phase currents of the motor, a control unit for vector-controlling the motor via the inverter circuit, a disconnection detecting unit, and an abnormality processing unit for stopping the rotation of the motor and giving abnormality information when the disconnection detecting unit detects disconnection. The disconnection detecting unit carries out smoothing processing which smooths the current values detected by the current detection unit in a period for the motor to rotatably drive the pulsator via the reduction gear, and determines the disconnection if a state where the current value of one of the three phases is equal to or lower than a specified value compared with the current value of at least one of the remaining two phases continues for predetermined time.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
