Disclosed are an accounting policy acquisition method and apparatus, so that a broadband network gateway can acquire a correct accounting policy. The accounting policy acquisition method can be applied to a broadband network gateway, and specifically comprises the following steps: receiving an authentication, authorization and accounting request from a user equipment, wherein the authentication, authorization and accounting request comprises a user name and an identification of the user equipment; sending an accounting policy request to a first server, wherein the accounting policy request comprises a first field and a second field, the first field is used for carrying the user name, and the second field is used for carrying the identification of the user equipment; and receiving an accounting policy response sent by the first server, wherein the accounting policy response comprises an accounting policy corresponding to the user name and the identification of the user equipment, and acquiring the accounting policy from the accounting policy response.
