Title:
ADAPTIVE "PIM" BODY FOR VEHICLES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/037884
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an adaptive "PIM" body for vehicles which comprises angular (1) and intermediate (2) mounts made of sections (7, 9), as well as expandable horizontal battens (4). These battens are connected with each other by means of suspensions (22), with their ends engaging into the opposing and open slots of angular 'PI'-shaped mounts (1). The intermediate mounts (2) are mounted on the front and lateral sides of the body and define a housing. The wall of the housing facing the horizontal battens has a longitudinal slot (11) through which members (12) limiting the horizontal, longitudinal and transverse displacement of said battens (4) are introduced into said housing. The back side is fitted with a 'PI'-shaped beam (16) having a longitudinal through-slot (17) in the wall contiguous to the horizontal battens, wherein said through-slot receives a member (19) capable of vertical displacement and being part of the fixation system (18) of a batten (4) onto the beam (16). The back side also comprises suspension devices (21) with locks for maintaining it in horizontal position. The suspensions (22) are mounted in the internal grooves (25) of the horizontal battens, said grooves defining a closed cavity (16) when all battens are assembled. At least the lateral sides may consist of sections (33, 34) which are connected with each other by complementary telescopic 'PI'-shaped mounts (25).
