ADDITIVE FOR USE IN RESTORATION OF CONTAMINATED SOIL, GROUND WATER OR SEDIMENT SOIL

An organic halogen compound that is capable of restoring contaminated sites of various geological conditions and enables performing restoration work at low cost; especially an additive for use in biological restoration of soil, ground water or sediment soil contaminated with organic chlorinated compounds. In particular, an additive comprising a substance capable of producing and activating microorganism consortiums, a substance capable of accelerating reducing dehalogenation by anaerobic microorganisms and a substance capable of producing anaerobic condition. By the use of the additive, a microorganism group (microorganism consortiums) of soil consumes oxygen in soil, ground water or sediment soil to thereby realize an anaerobic atmosphere (anaerobic condition) on the restoration object, and in the produced anaerobic atmosphere, anaerobic microorganisms decompose organic halogen compounds as electron acceptors by reducing dehalogenation with the use of an electron donor fed or an electron donor generated as a result of decomposition of other additive fed, ultimately accomplishing decomposition to inorganic halogen salts.
