Abstract:
The invention relates to an aerosol-generating device comprising a cavity for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate and a sensing assembly for detecting the aerosol-forming substrate in the cavity. The sensing assembly comprises an emitter configured to emit electromagnetic radiation into the cavity, a sensor configured to measure a wavelength of a received electromagnetic radiation, and a shielding plate configured to block electromagnetic radiation and being positioned externally to the cavity such that the sensor is arranged between the cavity and at least a portion of the shielding plate. The shielding plate comprises a U-section, a planar first portion connected to a first terminal edge of the U-section, and a planar second portion connected to a second terminal edge of the U-section. The first and second portions of the shielding plate are non-co-planar.
