Title:
ALKALINE STORAGE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/057351
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an alkaline storage battery that optimizes the stoichiometric ratio in the composition of a rare earth-Mg-Ni based hydrogen storage alloy and can reduce size and suppress memory effects while maintaining high output and output stability. [Solution] An alkaline storage battery (10) is provided with an electrode group formed from a negative electrode (11) having a hydrogen storage alloy as a main component, a positive electrode (12) having nickel hydroxide as a main component, and a separator (13) along with an electrolyte, all in an exterior can (17). The general formula for the hydrogen storage alloy is represented by LaxNdyRe1-x-y-zMgzNin-m-vAlmTv (Re being at least one element selected from rare earth elements (other than La and Nd) containing Y; and T being at least one element selected from Co, Mn, and Zn) and satisfies the conditions: 0.13 ≤ x ≤ 0.34, 0.14 ≤ y ≤ 0.60, 0.10 ≤ z ≤ 0.15, 3.50 ≤ n ≤ 3.75, 0.13 ≤ m ≤ 0.22, and v ≥ 0.
