Title:
AMORPHOUS CARBON COATING FILM AND AMORPHOUS-CARBON-COATING-FILM-COVERED TOOL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/098217
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an amorphous carbon coating film that has a hardness of 50 GPa or more, that does not peel off of a tool base material even when the coating film has a maximum thickness of more than 0.5 μm, and that has superior abrasion resistance even on cutting tools and the like. The present invention is formed by alternately laminating an A layer (a low-hydrogen amorphous carbon layer) 26 that has a hydrogen content of 3 at% or less and a thickness of 0.01-0.03 μm and a B layer (a high-hydrogen amorphous carbon layer) 28 that has a hydrogen content of more than 6 at% and a thickness that is equivalent to or less than the thickness of the A layer. As a result, the present invention can achieve an indentation hardness of 50 GPa or more, residual compressive stress that is caused by the hardness difference between the A layer 26 and a tool base material 22 is relieved by the B layer 28, and the present invention does not peel off of the tool base material 22 even at a maximum coating film thickness of more than 0.5 μm. Thus, a drill 10 wherein the tool base material 22 is partially or entirely covered by this amorphous carbon coating film 24 can achieve longevity as a tool and superior abrasion resistance.
