APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING WEIGHT OF SOLID MATERIAL

An apparatus and method useful to control the weight of a solid material, such as a tablet and a ceramic product. A plurality of solid materials the target weight per piece of which is <u>X</u> are collected by a collecting means (15), and the weight <u>W</u> of these materials is measured with a weight measuring means (19). The results of this measurement are judged as to whether or not they satisfy the expression <u>n</u> x (X-D)$m(F)W$m(F)<u>n</u> x (X+D), (wherein <u>n</u> is only one integer satisfying W/(X+D)$m(F)n$m(F)W/(X-D)), by a judgement means on the basis of the target weight <u>X</u> and a deviation control width �D with respect to the target weight, and, when an affirmative judgement is given, the average weight (W/n) of the solid materials is computed by a computing means. These apparatus and method are useful for calculating the average weight of solid materials speedily, eliminating a problem of the occurrence of the imperfect controlling of the weight of solid materials which is ascribed to a counting error, and controlling the weight of solid materials accurately.
