Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for generating rhythm data for unspecified sound sources used in a rhythm action game, and in particular comprises: a first step for receiving analog or digital sound source data, converting the inputted analog or digital sound source data into PCM data that include time information and level information and then extracting the PCM data, a second step for separating the extracted PCM data into low, middle and high-pitched sounds and the frequency of a certain band, a third step for compressing the PCM data for each frequency band to reduce the volume of the PCM data, a fourth step for extracting a peak point (P) from the compressed PCM data, and a fifth step for generating rhythm data for each frequency band by obtaining the level information and time information of the peak point from the PCM data of each frequency band from which the peak point (P) is extracted. The apparatus and the method enable a rhythm action game using all kinds of sound-source data (MVA, MP3, OGG, WMA, etc.) and simplify the use of the game by automatically generating rhythm data when specific sound source data are inputted. In addition, the apparatus and the method allow a user to play the rhythm action game at various difficulty levels with one sound source and enable unlimited UI configuration at a low cost. Furthermore, the volume of the rhythm action game can be reduced since rhythm data having low volume can be used when the rhythm action game is installed.
