Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for automatically transferring and weighing a powder material. The apparatus comprises a weigh station including a device for weighing the powder material in a container. A transfer device for collecting and dispensing the powder material is provided having a hollow body with first and second ends. The first end being connected to a vacuum source so that a vacuum is formed in the body. A hollow collecting/dispensing tip is detachably coupled to the second end of the body with a tip orifice at one end so that a vacuum is formed in the tip upon actuation of the vacuum source. The powder material is collected by placing the orifice in close proximity to a powder material and applying a vacuum resulting in a transfer quantity of powder material being collected in the tip orifice. The powder material is then transferred to the container.
