Abstract:
Provided are an arc detection system and method capable of providing reliability and safety. The disclosed arc detection system comprises: a current sensing unit for sensing a current flowing in a line; and an arc detector for detecting an arc on the basis of a current value sensed by the current sensing unit, wherein the arc is detected on the basis of a pulse size and frequency of an arc state and switching noise generated in an apparatus for driving a load connected to the line. The arc detector detects a first signal, which may be called an arc, on the basis of the pulse size and frequency of the arc state by frequency-analyzing the current value sensed by the current sensing unit, compares the detected first signal with the switching noise, and determines whether the first signal is finally an arc.
