Abstract:
Provided is an arc welding method for joining dissimilar materials, including steel to an aluminum alloy or to a magnesium alloy, that allows dissimilar materials to be strongly and highly reliably joined to one another using inexpensive arc welding equipment. The dissimilar material welded joint (1) includes an aluminum alloy or a magnesium alloy top plate (10), a steel bottom plate (20) that has been arc welded to the top plate (10), and a steel joining assist member (30). The top plate (10) has a circular hole (11) facing the overlapping surface of the bottom plate (20). The joining assist member (30) has a stepped outer shape including an axial portion (31) and a flange portion (32), and has a hollow portion (33) formed therein that traverses the axial portion (31) and the flange portion (32), and the outer peripheral surface of the axial portion (31) is provided with at least one protruding portion (39) for press-fitting. The joining assist member (30) is press-fitted into the hole (11) of the top plate (10), and the hollow portion (33) is filled with an iron alloy or an Ni alloy welding metal (40).
