Abstract:
Dielectric lenses (6) having outside dimensions of about 0.5 to 1.5 wavelengths are arranged in front of the slots (3) of a waveguide slot array antenna (1). The dielectric lenses (6) constitute a panel structure in which they are coupled into a one−piece body through a dielectric panel (7), thereby covering the front of the antenna. The spherical waves radiated from the slots are converted into plane waves by the dielectric lenses, and the synthesized wave of the radiated waves is a plane wave having few ripples, thereby greatly improving the antenna gain in comparison with array antenna with no dielectric lenses.
