Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] A bearing device for a wheel, having a rotation speed detection device, which is reduced in weight and size, in which foreign objects are prevented from entering into a detection section, and whose assemblability is improved to reduce costs. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A bearing device for a wheel, having a rotation speed detection device, constructed in a fourth-generation structure where a hub ring (1), a double-row rolling bearing (2) and a constant velocity universal joint (3) are unitized. A rotation speed detection device (21) has a sensor holder (22) constructed from a circular ring-like fitting ring (24) fitted on an end section of an outer member (4) and from a holding section (25) molded using resin integral with the fitting ring (24) and having a rotation speed sensor (26) embedded in the holding section. A seal (11) is interposed between the sensor holder (22) and an outer joint member (14), and the maximum outer diameters of the sensor holder (22) and the constant velocity universal joint (3) are set smaller than the inner diameter of a knuckle (N). By the construction above, foreign objects are prevented from entering into the detection section and assemblability of the bearing device is improved to reduce costs.
