Title:
BIPOLAR ZERO GAP ELECTROLYTIC CELL FOR WATER ELECTROLYSIS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2021/256472
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electrolysis device compatible with a variable power source and capable of effectively producing hydrogen over a wide range of current densities. A bipolar zero gap electrolytic cell for water electrolysis according to the present invention is characterized in that: a plurality of bipolar elements each comprising an anode chamber equipped with an anode, a cathode chamber equipped with a cathode, a conductive partition wall provided between the anode chamber and the cathode chamber, and an outer frame framing the conductive partition wall, are stacked with a gasket and a barrier film interposed therebetween; there is a protrusion on at least one surface of the conductive partition wall; a conductive elastic body is disposed between an electrode and the surface of the conductive partition wall on the opposite side from the aforementioned one surface; conduction with the conductive partition wall is generated by one electrode via at least the protrusion and by the other electrode via at least the conductive elastic body; and the barrier film is sandwiched between the anode and the cathode of neighboring bipolar elements by means of elastic stress from the conductive elastic body.
