Abstract:
A blood vessel endoscope (1) comprises: a flexible insertion part (2) that has a long axis, and that is inserted into a blood vessel; an observation unit (3) that is disposed on the tip of the insertion section (2), and that observes the inside of the blood vessel; and a guide wire retention part (5) that retains a guide wire (4) that guides the insertion part (2) so as to be able to move in the long axis direction. The guide wire retention part (5) comprises a tip opening (8) that allows the guide wire (4) to emerge therefrom. The tip opening (8) is disposed at a position which is spaced apart, by a prescribed distance, from the observation unit (3) at the long axis direction base end.
