Title:
CARRYING METHOD FOR INFUSION BAG
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/117148
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In heath care infusion bags are utilized in different situations, Quite often the patient has to be moved during treatment and then the infusion bag is carried using a so called drip stand equipped with wheels. Many problems are related to the drip stands as moving the stand over tresholds, on stairs, in elevator. In outdoor with the drip stand the dirt contaminates the wheels and causes hygienic problems. This invention describes the carrying method for infusion bag, which eliminates the disadvantages related to the present carrying method. The invention eliminates the use of the drip stand and permits the patient to move more freely. The essential feature in the invention is that with the new carrying system the infusion bag can be hanged at least to the level of the head of the patient, which acquires the required hydrostatic pressure difference for infusion of the solution to the peripheral vein. At the same time both hands of the patient are released for other purposes as opening the doors, bearing and lifting things. As a special advantage in new invention is related to that the patient can move for example with the crutches and wheelchairs carrying the infusion bag system.

Description:
CARRYING METHOD FOR INFUSION BAG

The present Invention is related to the method how to carry an infusion bag used in heath care.

In heath care infusion bags are utilized in different situations. Quite often the patient has to be moved during treatment and then the infusion bag is carried using a so called drip stand equipped with, wheels. Usually blood and plasma bags are hanged up the drip stand and the catheter is inserted into the intravenous vein. The infusion bags containing saline and antibiotic solutions injected to the peripheral vein are also frequently employed.

The main drawback in moving the drip stand is the trend to rotate with the vertical axis. Due to this the catheter may wrap around the vertical pole of the drip stand hindering the free liquid flow in catheter. The patient has also difficulties to move the drip stand over thresholds and movement on stairs and transition for example to the elevator may be remarkably difficult. On the other hand, when the patient moves in outdoor with the drip stand the dirt contaminates the wheels and causes hygienic problems in indoors.

Patent FI8828(U1)2010-08-27 describes the carrying method for infusion bag based on the rack fixed in shoulder. The solution is usable, but the weakness of the method is difficult dressing. The construction is relatively tall and the manufacturing costs are high. The complicated structure is also difficult to clean. In this solution the infusion bag is situated in rear end and then the patient cannot see/estimate the amount of the liquid solution.

This invention describes the carrying method for infusion bag, which eliminates the disadvantages related to the present carrying method. The invention eliminates the use of the drip stand and permits the patient to move more freely. The essential feature in the invention is that with the new carrying system the infusion bag can be hanged at. least to the level of the head of the patient, which acquires the required hydrostatic pressure difference for infusion of the solution to the peripheral vein. At the same time both hands of the patient are released for other purposes as opening the doors, bearing and lifting things. As a special advantage in new invention is related to that the patient can move for example with the crutches and wheelchairs carrying the infusion bag system.

The purpose of the invention is achieved with the equipment and its use, characterized in that what is presented in claims 1- 7.

In the following the invention is described by referring to the Fig. 1. in Fig. 1 the carrying system for the infusion bag (1 ) consists of the carrying box (2) and the holder (3) , which can be connected to each other for example with the fixing tape. With the holder (3) the infusion bag (1) can be hanged to the shoulder (4) of the patient. The carrying system for the infusion bag can be placed for example to the conventional drip stand in hospitals. With the aid of the retention strip (7) it is possible to increase the stability of the holder (3). The temperature of the infusion solution can be controlled by the heating/cooling element (6) involved in the carrying box (2). The infusion bag (1) may contain a clamp (1a), which permits the fixation of the infusion bag (1) to the holder (3). The clamp (1a) may be for example fixing tape.

The previous description of the inventi on contains only one implementation. The invention allows to develop solutions which differ slightly from the previously described, such as a closed box structure instead of the box (2), which can be opened. The stability of the holder can be increased for example using a retention strip around the neck, chest and underarm. In addition, the carrying system can be equipped with extra pockets and/or clamps for monitors as Holter-recorder and for disinfection equipments.
