Abstract:
A competitive information management system is provided which perform one or more of the following functions: (a) finds documents for a user to review based on information provided to the system by the user; (b) record information regarding the user's use of the data management system; (c) sorts documents based on their anticipated relevance to the user using information recorded into the system by the user; (d) display groups of documents in various display formats to assist the user to visualize functional interrelationships between different pieces of intellectual property in the group; (e) maintains a database containing documents and various forms of information associated with each document; (f) hunts for new documents or new pieces of information associated with each document; (g) alerts users when new documents or new pieces of information which are anticipated to be relevant to the user are identified; and (h) creates customized reports involving the documents identified by the above processes, and optionally information recorded into the system by the user.
