Abstract:
A composite sintered body including a first phase and a second phase. The first phase is a diamond phase and the second phase is a phase formed using at least one type of element or compound, or both, that apply strain to the first phase. The second phase content is more than 0 ppm and no more than 1,000 ppm. As a result, a composite sintered body is provided that includes diamond having high abrasion resistance, high local abrasion resistance, and high chipping resistance.
