Title:
COMPOSITION CONTAINING PENTOSE AND XYLITOL AS ACTIVE INGREDIENTS FOR SUPPRESSING ORAL BACTERIAL ATTACHMENT
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2015/105294
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition and an oral product, which contain a pentose and xylitol as active ingredients for suppressing oral bacterial attachment. The oral composition according to the present invention can suppress the inflow autoinducer-2 (AI-2), which is associated with bacterial plaque formation, into bacteria, and thus can reduce the expression of gbpC and dblB, which are genes for promoting bacterial attachment, thereby effectively suppressing plaque formation. In addition, it was verified that the pentose has an effect of inhibiting reaction to xylitol resistance as well as boosting an effect of xylitol, which has been widely used for cavity inhibition. The pentose and xylitol of the present invention are cheap and harmless to the human body and add a flavor, and thus can be favorably used as a food additive.
