Title:
COMPRESSION DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/102193
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A compression device that comprises: at least one compression unit that includes an electrolyte membrane, an anode that is provided on one principal surface of the electrolyte membrane, a cathode that is provided on the other principal surface of the electrolyte membrane, an anode separator that is layered on the anode, and a cathode separator that is layered on the cathode; and a voltage applicator that applies voltage between the anode and the cathode. The application of voltage by the voltage applicator transfers protons extracted from an anode fluid that is supplied to the anode to the cathode via the electrolyte membrane and generates compressed hydrogen. The compression device also comprises: an anode end plate that is provided on the anode separator that is on one end in the layering direction; a cathode end plate that is provided on the cathode separator that is on the other end in the layering direction; a first sealing material that surrounds the outer circumference of the cathode; and a second sealing material that is provided between the cathode separator that is on the other end and the cathode end plate and surrounds the outer circumference of a first space for collecting compressed hydrogen. The area of the region surrounded by the second sealing material is greater than the area of the region surrounded by the first sealing material.
