Abstract:

　The present invention provides a cutting insert (1). The cutting insert (1) has a body part (7) and a protruding part (6) protruding from the body part. A cutting edge (9) is formed on the protruding part (6), the cutting edge (9) being provided with corner cutting edges (9a) and main cutting edges (9b). The base end parts of the protruding part (6) at the corner-cutting-edge side are thicker than the base end parts of the protruding part distant from the corner cutting edges. The amount of protrusion of the protruding part (6) at the corner-cutting-edge side is less than the amount of protrusion of the protruding part distant from the corner cutting edges.
