Abstract:
Provided is a structure for strongly affixing a cutting insert to a tool body, having two end surfaces (2, 3) and a lateral surface (4) which connects the interval between the end surfaces, and having one or more cutting blades (5, 5a) formed on the intersecting ridgeline between the lateral surface (4) and at least one (2) of the two end surfaces. The lateral surface (4) includes curved-surface-equipped lateral-surface sections (9, 9a) having curved surfaces bulging outward. A first imaginary plane (A) contacting the curved surfaces of the curved-surface-equipped lateral-surface sections (9, 9a) and a secondary imaginary plane (B) contacting the second end surface (3) acutely intersect at an interior angle. It is possible to firmly affix the cutting insert (1) by contacting the curved-surface-equipped lateral-surface sections (9, 9a) to the wall surface (23) of the insert seat of the tool body (21).
