Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cutting insert provided with opposite upper and lower surfaces, a circumferential side surface extending between same, and a cutting edge formed at the intersection of the circumferential side surface and the upper surface. Said cutting insert is configured so that the cutting face relating to the cutting edge extends on the upper surface and at least a portion of the flank relating to the cutting edge extends on a first side surface of the circumferential side surface. The circumferential side surface comprises a second side surface that is separated from the first side surface in the circumferential direction of the insert. The second side surface extends from the upper surface to the lower surface so as to form roughly a right angle or obtuse interior angle with respect to the upper surface. The junction between the second side surface and the lower surface runs closer to the inside of the insert than the intersection between the extended surface determined by extending the second side surface and the extended surface determined by extending the lower surface.
