Abstract:
Cyclopentenone derivatives having structures of 2-cyclopenten-1-one substituted with R�1?COO- and R�2?COO- at the 5- and 4-positions respectively (wherein R�1? and R�2? are each independently alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl), or optical isomers thereof; a process for the preparation of the derivatives by reacting 4,5-dihydroxy-2-cyclopenten-1-one with the corresponding carboxylic acid or a reactive derivative thereof; and carcinostatic agents, apoptosis inducers and antibacterial agents containing the derivatives.
