A cylindrical battery according to an embodiment comprises an electrode body, a bottomed cylindrical exterior can, and a sealing body. The cylindrical battery further comprises: an electrode lead which extends from a position facing a groove section of the exterior can on the outer circumferential side of the electrode body, and directly connects a first electrode and a current collecting plate of the sealing body; and an upper insulating plate. The upper insulating plate includes: a first insulating plate; and a second insulating plate which is disposed closer to the sealing body side than the first insulating plate and is interposed between the groove section and the electrode lead. The electrode lead is bent in the direction of the center axis of the electrode body, and at least a part of the electrode is sandwiched between the first insulating plate and the second insulating plate.
