Abstract:
This invention prevents edge contact between a retainer guide surface of a flange of a bearing ring and a guide surface of a retainer that follows the tilt of a cylindrical roller, the edge contact being caused by a misalignment between a shaft and a housing. The initial shape of the guide surface (22) of the retainer (20) is set as that of a spherical surface (S) having a center (O) positioned on the bearing axis and on a radial plane passing through the center of the width of the raceway surface (32) of the bearing ring (30). The initial shape of the retainer guide surface (33) of the flange (31) is also set to a similar spherical shape. Even when a misalignment causes the tilt angle θ to reach the allowable tilt angle of 0.5°, and the retainer (20) tilts so as to follow the tilt of the cylindrical roller (10), a change in the radial dimension, caused by the spherical surface (S) shape of the guide surface (22), makes it possible for the retainer (20) to maintain a positive guide clearance.
