Abstract:
Provided are a data transmission method and a communication apparatus, relating to the technical field of communication, and capable of ensuring service continuity. The method is applied to a terminal device configured with at least two uplink radio frequency channels. The method comprises: sending first data on first carriers. The first carriers comprise at least one common uplink NUL carrier, and the first carriers occupy all of the at least two channels. Then, due to the influence of other factors, the terminal device determines that the signal quality has deteriorated, and initiates random access on a second carrier. The second carrier belongs to a supplementary uplink SUL carrier, and occupies at least one of the at least two channels. Receiving a first message on a downlink carrier. The first message indicates at least one of the following: reducing the number of first carriers or reducing the number of multiple-input multiple-output MIMO layers supported by the first carriers. Then, sending second data on the second carrier, the second data being data sent after the first data.
