This metallic detection device, which is used in a sensor for detecting a subject substance, is characterized by an oriented metal layer comprising a metal that is oriented in a specific crystal plane being provided to the outermost surface, and a probe substance having an affinity to the subject substance being affixed to the surface of the oriented metal layer.
