The invention relates to oxidation colorants, used to colour keratin fibres, in particular, human hair, which contain the following in a medium suitable for coloration: (a) at least one pyridine derivative of the general formula (I), or one of the physiologically compatible salts of these compounds as the developer component; in said formula, R<1> and R<2> represent, independently of one another, hydrogen, a C1 to C4 alkyl group or a C1 to C4 hydroxyalkyl group, or together with the nitrogen atom, to which they are bonded, form an optionally substituted, saturated heterocyclic 5 or 6 membered ring which can contain an additional nitrogen atom or an oxygen atom, R<3> represents hydrogen, a C1 to C4 alkyl group or a C1 to C4 hydroxyalkyl group, R<4> and R<5> represent, independently of one another, hydrogen, a C1 to C4 alkyl group or a C3 to C8 cycloalkyl group, R<6> and R<7> represent, independently of one another, hydrogen, a halogen atom, a C1 to C4 alkyl group, a C1 to C4 hydroxyalkyl group, a C1 to C4 aminoalkyl group or a C1 to C4 alkoxy group and n is a whole number from 1 to 8; and (b) at least one specific coupler component.
