Title:
DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING LASER DIODES
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001024331
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for adjusting laser diodes (1), comprising a bias direct current supply (3) which is connected to the laser diode enabling said laser diode (1) to receive bias direct current from said bias direct current supply (3); a modulator (2) whereby a signal current of the laser diode (1) can be modulated according to a data signal with the aid of a modulator (2) whereby said data signal is received by the modulator (2); and a temperature compensation device (8) which can be connected to the modulator (2) in such a way that the signal current can be adjusted and/or controlled according to changes in temperature. A pilot signal adjustment device which is used to adjust the signal current with the aid of a pilot signal frequency which is modulated on the signal current and switching means (S1, S2, S3) are provided in order to switch the adjustment device between a state wherein the pilot signal adjustment device is connected to the modulator (2) and the bias direct current source (3) in such a way that the signal current can be adjusted with the aid of the pilot signal adjustment device and another state wherein the modulator (2) is connected to the temperature compensation device (8) in such a way that the signal flow can be adjusted and/or controlled by means of the temperature compensation device (8).
