Title:
DEVICE FOR PREVENTING THE UNINTENTIONAL CLOSING OF DOORS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1988/005852
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The device prevents from any unintentional and/or accidental closing of doors and similar with the key inside due to the presence of a small piston (1) housed in a containing structure (2) that may be applied inside or outside a door (P), and also provided with an expansion spring (3) that determines the outward bending with respect to said structure (2) and consequently the contrast rabbet with respect to a frame (T) of door (P), which therefore may not be closed until said piston (1) doesn't return inside said structure (2) with the consequent loading of said spring (3), by means of a return lever (4), placed externally to the door, to which a similar lever (7) corresponds internally to the door, having the same purpose.

CLAIMS
1. A device for preventing the unintentional closing of doors, main doors and similar comprising an outwardly bent, spring piston for determining a rabbet against the frame for pre¬ venting the closing, characterized in: a container structure applicable internally or external¬ ly to the door, in which a piston slides pushed by a spring and projecting for causing the contrast rabbet against a step of the frame; a full door wing linked to the drame, that will maintain the piston in its position internal to said container by means of the loading of the spring; an external return lever linked to said piston and slld ing along an eyelet for allowing said piston to return, with the end thereof, inside the container structure when the door shall be closed; an internal lever for the opening, from the inside, of said door, said lever having its fulcrum in a container passing through the thickness of said door, whereby said lever will determine the sliding of said external lever on which the end of said first lever will rest.
2. A device for preventing the unintentional closing of doors, main doors and similar according to claim 1, cha¬ racterized in that said container structure is linked to the door in the internal part thereof and that said external and internal levers are placed in inverted po¬ sition maintaining the same functions.
Description:
DEV ICE FOR PREVENTING /THE UNINTENTIONAL CLOSING OF DOORS

The present invention concerns a device for preventing the unintentional or accidental closing of doors, armoured doors, main doors, car doors and similar.

It is well known how often it happens to any one to close a door behind himself, leaving the key inside and thus be¬ ing not able to get in again, even if there are other co¬ pies of said keys available which, however, could not open the door due to the obstacle in the lock.

It is the aim of the present invention to realize a device being completley independent from the opening and closing mechanism of the lock, for the prevention of unintentional or accidental closing of any kind of door.

The aim is reached by means of the device according to the present invention consisting of a piston or similar, hous¬ ed in a container structure applicable inside and/or out¬ side the doors, and provided with an expansion spring that will determine the projection thereof with respect to said structure and thus the consequent contrast rabbet with re¬ spect to the door frame, whereby said door may not be clos¬ ed in any way until said small piston is not called back in said structure with the consequent loading of said

spring by means of a return lever, external to the door, to which corresponds a similar lever, internal to the door, having the same purpose.

The evident advantage of the present invention consists in the elimination of all time, economical and psicolo- gical inconveniences occurring to absent-minded people who sometimes must call a joiner or even the firemen for being enabled to get in their own homes or to their work- ing places.

The present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow relating to the enclosed drawings showing a preferred embodiment thereof.

Figure 1, shows a split plant view of the complete de¬ vice.

Figure 2, shows a profile, a plant and a lateral view of the piston container structure.

Figure 3, shows a plant view of the internal lever system.

The enclosed figures show a device for preventing the un- intentional closing of doors, main doors and similar, main¬ ly comprising a piston 1, externally provided on a door P or, in a variant, internally, said piston 1 being pushed by a spring 3 in such a way as to project from said struc¬ ture determining a contrast rabbet against step 6, or even

in any point of frame T of said door P in any way prevent¬ ing the closing of said door by means of the relative lock not shown.

For allowing a rational and not unintentional closing of the door according to the present invention, the user will operate on external return lever 4, linked to piston 1 and sliding along an eyelet 5 of said structure 2 and, loading spring 3, he will determine the return of the end of said piston 1 inside said structure 2, so as to overcome step G or any other rabbet on frame T, until the end of said piston 1 touches the full door wing 6, linked to frame T.

Furthermore, for allowing the operation of piston 1, not only from the outside, as described, also internally to the door teh present invention provides an internal lever 7 having its fulcrum in 8 inside container 10, passing through the thickness of said door, said lever causing the sliding of said lever 4 onto which the end of said lever 7 will rest.

In a variant, the device according to the present inven¬ tion may be realized with the positions of levers 4 and 7 inverted, following to the placing of structure 2 internal- ly to door P and of container 10 externally to said door.
