Title:
DISCHARGE DETECTION METHOD FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL MACHINING APPARATUS, AND ELECTROCHEMICAL MACHINING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/065377
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a discharge detection method used for an electrochemical machining apparatus wherein gap voltage is applied between an article to be machined (28) and an electrode (20) which faces the same, while supplying electrolyte between the article to be machined (28) and the electrode (20). The conductance of the gap between the article to be machined (28) and the electrode (20) is detected. The occurrence of a discharge is detected due to a fact that this conductance reaches a predetermined discharge criterion threshold value Vlevel. The aforementioned discharge detection method can be easily applied to a high voltage pulse assist scheme. Discharges at the time of current rise in a low voltage pulse assist scheme and the high voltage pulse assist scheme can be promptly and reliably detected. When short-circuiting occurs between the electrode and the article to be machined, this short-circuiting (discharge) can be detected.
