Abstract:
A discoid recording medium on which information signals are recorded by a recording/reproducing head. Specifically the information signals are recorded in signal recording areas of the turning medium by means of the head floating at a predetermined interval from the medium. The medium has a good flatness and is held by a clamping mechanism at the portions flush with the surfaces where recording areas are provided and 0.1 mm or more apart from the periphery of the center hole. Therefore, the eccentricity of the medium caused while the medium is being rotated is prevented, and crash of the head against the medium is also prevented.
