Abstract:
The display device of the present invention comprises a backlight, an optical modulation element, and a light-diffusing member. When light reflected once by a light-reflecting surface of the light-diffusing member and emitted at an emission angle β from a light-emitting surface of the light-diffusing member is designated as once-reflected light, light emitted in a second direction from the backlight and emitted in the same direction as the once-reflected light from the light-emitting surface without being reflected by the light-reflecting surface is designated as 0-reflected light, the intensity of light emitted in a first direction from the backlight is designated as I1 (β), the intensity of light emitted in the second direction from the backlight is designated as I0 (β), the smaller of I1 (β) and I0 (β) in intensity is designated as Ismall (β), and the larger in intensity is designated as Ilarge (β), the value of the ratio Ismall (β)/Ilarge (β) of Ilarge (β) and Ismall (β) when β is 50° is 0.2 or less.
