Abstract:
Provided is a distance measurement device in which parallax image matching is performed in a highly accurate manner and the amount of computation is minimized. A distance measurement device (4) for creating a parallax image and measuring distance, provided with: a plurality of imaging sensors (3a, 3b) for forming an image; an edge image extractor (13) for extracting, from the image, an edge image having pixel values that have distinguishing information for distinguishing between an edge caused by a change from light to dark and an edge caused by a change from dark to light; a binarized edge image creation unit (15) for creating a binarized edge image according to the positive or negative sign of the edge image; a parallax image creation unit (17) for creating a parallax image from the binarized edge image; and a distance image computation unit (19) for computing a distance image from the parallax image.
